Personal and Social Development
All pastoral teaching will come under the title PSD [Personal and Social Development]
In every subject in the curriculum we aim to give our boys the chance to develop their knowledge, learning and skills to the best of their ability. Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education supplements this, providing students with knowledge and understanding essential to the development of confident, healthy and well-rounded individuals.
At Cranbrook College we see PSHEE as an essential part of a holistic approach to the education of our boys and as fundamental to their development into self-aware, healthy and motivated young men. By providing effective personal, pastoral advice and direction, we are ensuring that the College is not only achieving excellent academic standards, but also creating well-balanced students.
Through raising, debating and addressing the important issues outlined in the PSHEE curriculum, we equip our students to deal with the moral, social and cultural issues they face on a daily basis. This means enabling them to think about their roles and responsibilities in society, both as individuals and as part of their wider community.
We also recognise that pupils need guidance in health, safety and career decisions. Therefore, we feel it is important that we provide the time, resources and environment in which these areas can be explored in a meaningful and effective way.
